Pete Bylsma, a Grand Rapids engineer and inventor, founded Bylsma Tool back in 1974. It was just Pete and a lathe in his garage. In 1984, he moved his shop to Rockford, Michigan with 2 employees (that still work here!). Norman Byrne purchased Bylsma Tool in 1997, changing the name to Byrne Tool & Die in 1999, then rebranding and changing the name to Byrne Tool + Design in 2015.
